It's the first gravity waterer that pours water into a stainless steel bowl. First of all the waterer is easy to fill and works completely perfect but one of my dogs is a goof ball and is hooked on making and watching air bubbles in the reservoir. My cat will swat water out so new water comes in and bubbles form. I hope he knocks this crap off soon because it makes a mess and I'm currently only able to fill the thing 25% because of this dogs obsession with water bubbles! Strange!
While traveling and viewing my dogs remotely through my catcam tablet app, I saw that their water bowl was completely empty. The cat sitter could not get to the house due to weather. To avoid the panic of this situation, I bought this water dispenser. LOVE IT! Instructions on use are on the bottom: lift top jug and fill with water. While jug is sitting on your counter, attach bottom tray to the jug (it will now be upside-down). Over sink, turn right-side up and water gurgles into the tray. I had NO spillage whatsoever. Good sturdy plastic will last a long time. Water gurgles into the tray and may release a water bubble (similar to a water dispenser you might have at work). Functions beautifully and enough water for my 5 dogs for over a week. Everyone happy now!
