HTC's Desire 500 is a device that retails for just 899 Malaysian Ringgit (US$271) in Malaysia and is for sale now in two colors, blue and red. Based on its pricing, the Desire 500 feels nearer to a budget smartphone, even with HTC saying that it's a mid-range device.
With its a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, an 8-megapixel camera and 4GB of onboard storage space, the mobile phone runs on Android 4.1 with the HTC Sense UI. Based mostly on what we know of the HTC Desire 600 dual sim (which has similar specs), you can expect to have a smooth experience but ordinary camera performance.
Additional specs include a 4.3-inch WVGA (800x480-pixels) display screen, 1GB of RAM, a 1,800mAh battery and a microSD card slot. The smartphone lacks LTE support however comes packing HSDPA with speeds of up to 7.2Mbps.
