Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge User Review

I have been using this phone for three days now. I was impressed that the phone was delivered sooner than expected. The box was sealed and everything was intact.
The Galaxy S7 Edge is a nice phone. There is no questioning that. It's certainly good that Samsung brought back the expandable storage via the Micro SD slot because it was obnoxious for them to ask for $200 more for the larger capacity phone last year when you could have bought your own extra storage for $30.
The S7 Edge still doesn't have the removable battery which is a problem for me as I like to keep phones for a few years. Batteries only last a year or two before they start to show a noticeable reduction in performance. I like being able to get the $20 replacement battery, pop it an and be on my way.
And while the S7 is a great phone otherwise in every category, there are budget phones now that are starting to get pretty darn good for around $200 to $300. They aren't as good as the S7, but they are as good as the S4. So they are 2-3 years behind, but the phone tech from 4 years ago was pretty good for the average user. I was ready to buy the S7. I had it in my hand at the T Mobile....and just decided to go with a lower cost phone. The S7 is awesome, but I couldn't justify the price tag.
The S7 Edge earns it's value for 2 types of phone users though. People who want an really good camera in their pocket at all times and people who like to play high end graphical video games. If you are one of those people, then this might be a good value at $700 for you. If you just want to make calls, text your friends, take the occasional picture, and play a couple fairly simple games, you might consider one of the more budget friendly phones by companies that were considered off brands 3 years ago but who now are making very quality phones. (Asus and Accetel come to mind. There are others. There are also some really garbage off brands that you want nothing to do with.)
Or maybe you just want a massively overpowered phone, in which case, this is the one for you. No one really NEEDS a Ferrari either, but I certainly understand why people want them! The S7 is the same way. It's probably more powerful than you need, but it's awesome.
But as for the Galaxy S7 the reintroduction of the micro SD slot for expandable storage makes it a significant improvement over the S6. Just be careful when buying a micro SD card. Stick to the major brands (Samsung, SanDisk, Kingston, etc). A large number of the off brands are fake cards. They might have 128GB printed on the side and might even show as 128GB in the phone, but they are really 16GB cards that have been hacked. once you get the card, even if its a name brand from a reliable seller, test the card to make sure it's actually the real capacity it claims to be by either using a testing program called h2testw or just put 40gb of data on it and make sure you can read it back properly.
This is one of the most gorgeous phones I have seen. I would rather suggest buying from a carrier as they are much cheaper cost wise and you get free VR gear as well. Making it even more worth it.
The battery is bigger but personally it is draining out pretty fast even when kept idle. I am assuming it is because of the "always on" feature so I am going to disable that and check out a few more days. But that is least of my concerns as the battery does last about a whole day after a lot of usage.
The addition of microSD slot is a good move as even the 32 GB inbuilt memory isnt enough for people like me. Specially when you are buying a high tech phone and expect to do almost every thing with your super phone you need lots of memory.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Hands-On Review

Proud owner of the new style android icon- none other than.. The one and only Note 7

Finally the wait is over.. After a long nail biting wait I grabbed the new android revolution in my pocket.. Yeah I am talking about Samsung galaxy note 7 ...
After note 5 's big success I was a little skeptical about how the new release of note 7 will do.. But no wonder it just hit the first stand and all my worries were thundered away in just a few minutes when I got this iconic phablet in my hand.

I chose the blue coral one to enjoy the feature of a new magic in a soothing color matching with the sea.

Now coming straight to point--

The best build and features of note 7 in my testing are -

1. Ergonomic Design - This 5.7 inch Android V6.0.1 2 SIM slot phablet is edged in both sides quite different from previous note 5 which was only edged in front side. Now it's dual curved with super AMOLED display with a S pen. The benefit of dual curve is that it really feels smooth and symmetric in hands. It feels like you are holding glass with no metalic thing in between. Really ergonomic design.
2. Screen - The screen is fabulous . The Quad Hd wonder has a bigger screen size compared to iPhone . On the left hand side you have infra red light for iris scanner and on the right a dedicated camera fir scanning irises.
3. Sleek and light weight - It's a bit narrower and less weight than note 5 which means you are getting more technology in a lighter weight.
4. Build Quality damage proof - Aluminum alloy with The gorilla glass 5 case is surely a big wall against any damages to this precious note 7.
5. Type c port and adapter - It has a USB type c port with a matching adapter that comes with the phone. From nexus 5x I am a fan of using type c port and I am really enjoying this in my samsung note 7 also. I am happy Samsung provided the adapter and I don’t have to use other compatible adapter.
6. Memory - It has extended memory up to 2 TB of card but depending on what is available now you can use 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage . If you preorder Samsung is providing the gift of of free Gear Fit 2 or a free 256GB Samsung microSD card for more space.
7. Camera - It has 12 mp rear cam and 5 mp front cam. It has HDR video also. Super focus and best low light pictures . Selfies look mind blowing. The low light pictures are also of good resolution.
8. Iris scanner- Note 7 has iris scanner which helps me to unlock the device and also authenticates the phone by eyes. Just keep your eyes 25-35 cm away and from your face, open your eyes wide , the scanner captures the iris and you are all set to swipe, scan and unlock.I loved to enjoy the dual feature of iris scanner and fingerprint sensor together for different usage. I will love to use the iris scanner for secure folder .
9. Fast charging - Note 7 charges so fast. It gets half charged within 10 minutes which is quite helpful when you are in a hurry and need your phone atleast charged to make necessary calls or browsing the mails.
10. S pen - S Pen is 20 mm long 3 g light weight a bit thinner this time, good for artists .action memo, S Note and scrapbook all together in Samsung notes. So you don't have to wander and get all the options at one place.
11. Beautiful features of S Pen - S Pen features are great. When you eject S Pen you have the feature of air command like - a) magnifying glass for zooming in text b) translate c) glance - view an app as thumbnail and fully later d) Smart select is really wonderful to give gift of Integrated GIF of 15 sec of videos currently running on the screen to your beloved ones.
12. Water resistance - Enjoy water resistance feature not only for the phone but this time also for the S pen which is great, so you can take notes with s pen while being with your phone under water ...any way I have not tried it till now.
13. Battery - The battery is really great. You are getting 3,500 mAh battery which is really huge for a phablet .
14. Always on display - always on display same as S7. You can take memos with a S pen while display is off.
15. No damage for S Pen or by S pen to phone - You can't put in the Spen backwards , the slot is done in such a way that the pen will not enter in backward direction so either way the phone and the S pen is damage proof.

Now just a few loopholes-

1. Slower IRIS Scanner with some backdrops - The iris scanner is surely the elegant touch in note 7 and must awaited one but it's really slow. It works well only without lenses or glasses and in bright light. So, I think that's a minus point for this great feature.
2. Expensive - It’s really expensive.
3. Non replaceable battery - You can not replace the battery . I really wonder why Samsung has not done anything for this replaceable battery.
4. Speaker - Speaker placement is at the bottom and not front facing. Only one speaker and the sound is not so impressive.
5. No FM radio - For a radio music lover like me I really miss FM radio in my Note 7.
6. Back cover attracts grease and grime - Back cover does not have oleophobic coating so it’ easily catches grease and grime.
7. Gorilla Glass 5 - It is made of Gorilla Glass 5 both front and back. The main disadvantage of this is that it is more prone to scratches, can catch scratches easily. But it will not break easily that’s a plus point.
Note 7 has given quite a good choice of colors - black onyx, silver titanium, blue coral and gold platinum.
Its display is just way better than previous generation phones. Smooth butter like screen navigation. And the Edge display is just an icing on the cake.

Camera- Checked out the camera features and very impressed with pic quality. To me the innovative feature implemented in. Note 7 camera app is the toggle functionality from front to rear camera and vice versa. I hope many people welcome this feature as like me.

Apps just open faster. Game apps just open like jet fast on tapping. Of course it depends on later how much you load the phone with more apps, media etc.

I really like the UI design. It's fresh and easy access to all features of the phone. May be it's me, since I was using this number of galaxy series phones for last 5 years.

It got external micro SD card slot, it's IP68 water, dust resistant.

Pretty feature packed and slim and Lightweighted smartphone from Samsung.

If it is a question of upgrade My answer will be YES!!! It’s a go.

Besides these few Cons I really love my Note 7 and I think I really enjoy using this wonderful phablet. Enjoy!!!

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" Review: Absolutely great. Fast, great screen, feather light.

This tablet meets and exceeds all of my expectations.

Let me preface this by saying that I have an Amazon Kindle, Samsung Note 10.1 and do own or have owned the Samsung note 3 and 4. I am an avid Google/Android fan by virtue of the ability to customize the appearance and the open format.

I actually own and have this device. I am not someone who read the specs and decided to publish a review of the device based on what is perceived as problems or concerns. .

So, ordered it and arrived from Amazon one day after release. Thank you Amazon. I have been using it for the past three hours.
Initial impressions: Fantastic.

On the initial boot up, it upgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1 This is the newest and latest version of Lollipop.

As has been noted, this device is thin and light. It belies expectations. It fits in a jacket pocket. I got the 8 inch as I have a 13 inch laptop and the 10.1 tablet that I also use is big. Those are not a pocket/handbag reader. This fits in my side pocket or jacket and is unnoticeable.

It has no lag, no shutter, and no problems with instant screen changes. The touch screen and sensitivity is great.

For those who are concerned that this upgrade may not be worth it, for me, it is a huge improvement. No lag and instant response.

For android fans, the system asked my Google system password and immediately imported all of my paid and free apps. Everything installed duplicating all of my other Android products and apps.

There is an interesting problem. I do like the Google Launcher due to the fact that it has information that is helpful to me. It does not play well with this system. It does not look good and has a problem with how it integrates. So, if I have not figured it out, let me know. As of now, I am stuck with the touch wiz. Which on this system is really quite good.

The touch wiz is really not bad. I have accepted it and the new system is so fast and so quick that I will accept the Flipboard over the Google cards for the moment. And, I really only need most of the cards when using my cell phone.

The image is great. I am not certain why there are concerns about the new format. It is ideal for reading and any news site. Netflix looks great, as does Amazon video and Hulu. Yes, the new format is not perfect for viewing movies, but honestly, that is not how I spend my life. The image is terrific. Blacks and contrast is the best I have seen on any screen. I beats my Note 4.
I read the review that the finger scanner required a few tries.

I use a Microsoft Exchange account which require a password for the system under the administrative requirement. This system accepts the fingerprint as acceptable.

For me, after entering the fingerprint scanner information is almost never a provlem it works first or second time. It works in less than ½ second. I just hit the home button and it is instantly accepted. Absolutely great. A vast improvement from the prior systems used on the Note 4.

And, the fingerprint scanner integrates with Last Pass. You can use it to enter passwords without re-entering your secure system password.

So, how can I summarize:
Fast processor and no lag.
Google imports all the apps and allows complete integration
Great screen for video and reading
No lag and much improved screen response.
A terrific finger print detector.
Works with Last Pass and allows access to secure sites with a simple thumb print.

The only con is a problem with the Google Launcher.

I have read reviews that it is not a quantum leap above previous tablets. I am always surprised that reviewers on major electronic sites want every iteration of a product to be a huge change. Samsung has made a new format with a great screen and fast processor. The newest software and it works great.

So, if you are in the market for a new tablet, this one appears to be great. As an aside, the gold color is a bronze/gold and not flashy or over the top. A very nice change from black and white.

All in all, five stars. I am very happy.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Review

Samsung Galaxy S7
I was waiting for this new wonder by Samsung and atlast I got it in my hand. Out of Black, white, Gold and Silver I chose the gold one. No doubt Samsung has again shown its creativity in its new launch Galaxy S7.
Got this phone from ATT and not amazon, but thought I should write a little about it so you can ignore the slander comments.

This phone is exactly as marketed.
Pros:
- Its fast, It will run many processes in the background without ever bogging down ( improvement over my S5)
- Its got a good camera for the 99% of us who are not professional photographers.
- Display is clear and high def.
- It's slightly smaller than my S5. I actually like this.
- They brought back the SD card slot (one reason I didn't get the S6)
- To the fellow that complained about dropping it from over a foot and it breaking..... buy a case... its what people do with a $700 phone.

Cons:
- Battery life is still good, but not as good as my S5... I will play with it all day and it will still have about 40% left as opposed to 60% with my older one.
- Headphone jack on the bottom of phone... personal preference I suppose, but I liked it on the top.
- Still has the more complicated menu settings of android phones... Ex: Might take you a few minutes to find the right tab to rename your phone.
- Samsungs "SmartSwitch" isn't great when transferring files to your new phone. Try to store as much as you can on your old SD card before moving things or you might lose some of those valued pictures or documents.
I will start with not so impressive points of this new tech wonder-
1) Similar look to S6- It looks so similar to older version S6 in design. At least a new version should have differences from its predecessors not only by features but also by look. Both of them are same by size, look , height , width. Only slight differences are there by look. S6 is more flat at the back whereas S7 has curved panel.
The rear camera in s6 sticks out a bit whereas in S7 the camera is more flat.
2) No Type c USB - I will miss my nexus Type c usb connector in S7 which I really enjoy in my google nexus 5X. S again I will be missing my fast charging here which is most needed when you are in a hurry and want to get your phone atleast half charged within a couple of minutes.
3) No 3D touch- I love 3D touch of my iPhone 6S plus which I will be missing in this S7.

Now the best and most impressive sides of S7 are -
1) Better camera than S6- In spite of the significant megapixel difference in camera between S6 and S7 ( S6 has 16 MP rear camera where as S7 has 12 mp rear camera ) I would say the camera is much better than S6 . Pictures comes solid in S7 and you will not have a chance to think about the megapixel difference.
2) Waterproof phone- Yeah, Samsung has created the wonder fully waterproof which is savior to those worries if your phone accidentally gets dropped in water.
3) Better battery performance - Combo of 3000 mah battery and android marshmallow featuring long lasting battery will make S7 horse of a long race.
4) Micro SD card support- It supports Micro SD card which is a win win over S6.

I am using this phone and have no complaints still now and pretty happy with my golden S7.
